Science

Eatonville School District uses the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and the Washington State Learning Standards as the foundation of our science instruction. The standards reflect the latest research and advances in modern science. In order to equip students to think critically, analyze information, and solve complex problems, the standards are arranged such that— from elementary through high school—students have multiple opportunities to build on the knowledge and skills gained during each grade, by revisiting important concepts and expanding their understanding of connections across scientific domains.

Students in grades K-5 use the Mystery Science Curriculum which features lessons to lead students in the doing of science and engineering. Middle school students use science kits and materials that are furnished through a Science Cooperative based out of ESD 113 in Tumwater. High school students are in a series of courses with various textbooks that cover core concepts in earth, physical, and life science. Students at Eatonville High School also take higher level science classes and Advanced Placement classes in Biology, Physics, Environmental Science, Anatomy, and more.
