Literacy & Social Studies

Literacy, reading, and language arts are a core focus of our instruction in Eatonville.

Students reading at grade level and progressing each year is of paramount importance for our teachers. All students are taught according to the Washington State K-12 ELA standards.

  1. In grades K-2 teachers use Journeys to teach reading and literacy,
  2. Grades 3-5 use Side by Side Reading,
  3. Middle School grades use the College Board's SpringBoard curriculum
  4. High School there is a mix of SpringBoard and other materials.

Social Studies, History, Geography, and Civics are taught throughout all grades.

Students specifically receive instruction in US History in grades 5, 8, and 10.

Over the other years students are exposed to themes in social studies, history of other countries and parts of the world, as well as cirriculum specific to Washington State History.
