Attendance (Please refer to policy 3122 and 3122P)

Academic excellence is tied to good attendance. Students who are frequently absent – whether excused or unexcused – miss key components and essential practice. Students with excessive absences (considered 10% of the total days) may be required to acquire a doctor’s note for each future absence or the absences would be deemed unexcused. The note from the doctor should include the reason for the absence and the dates of the absence. In lieu of a doctor’s note, parents/guardians may bring their student to school at the start of the school day to be assessed by school personnel.

Students are expected to be in class on time. When a student’s tardiness becomes frequent or disruptive, the student shall be referred to the principal (or designee). Progressive discipline may apply. Tardies may be included as part of a BECCA truancy petition as (3) tardies being equivalent to one (1) unexcused absence.

Regular, on-time attendance may be a prerequisite for participation in extra- curricular programs and/or events. Students attending Eatonville Elementary on a transfer waiver must maintain good attendance.

0-9 absences on track, 10 to 17 absences Warning, 18 to 25+ absences Chronic
