Welcome to Eatonville Middle School--Home of the Warriors!
On behalf of the staff of Eatonville Middle School, I welcome each and every parent, guardian and student to Eatonville Middle School. Our school is a safe, innovative and supportive learning environment for all students, focusing on high standards for academic achievement. To help all students meet the rigorous academic standards set by the Common Core State Standards, the Next Generation Science Standards, as well as our state standards, we have incorporated high-level learning opportunities into our daily schedule and extended our school day for enrichment and academic support. Here are the highlights:
- Our Language Arts teachers use the Springboard Pre-AP materials that are aligned with the Common Core and backed by the College Board. This highly rigorous curriculum incorporates high-level thinking and speaking skills as well as reading, writing, and collaboration skills at high levels to prepare students for Advanced Placement in high school and career success beyond high school.
- We have adopted Big Ideas math materials to align with the Common Core. These materials were adopted to meet the needs of students in explicit instruction in thinking and problem-solving strategies aligned to practical, real-life situations they will face in all aspects of their daily lives.
- We are partnering with Steilacoom and Rochester School Districts and the Teacher's Development Group (TDG) over the next two years for intense professional development through the "Studio" model to support the work of math and science teachers as they use instructional best practice in their classrooms.
- AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is an elective section and school-wide support system to help all students prepare for college and careers. AVID's mission is to "to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society." (More about AVID can be found on the AVID section of this website.
The staff at Eatonville Middle School is committed to helping all students achieve success, but they cannot do it alone. We need the help and support of our community to make this happen. Please feel free to contact your child's teachers with any concerns or questions you have. Two-way communication is essential in the success of our students.
We are all looking forward to a great school year!
