Strategic Plan Process
The Strategic Planning Steering Team Continues to Make Advances
Members of the Strategic Planning Steering Team have taken the next steps toward creating a Strategic Plan for the Eatonville School District.
On Oct. 19th, steering team members worked from the five focus areas, to create objective statements after reviewing specific data previously reviewed by the Steering team. Planning teams were convened on Oct. 23rd and 24th to test the created objectives to determine if they are viable.
Throughout this entire process, our community has played a critical role in our planning work. We are at a crucial point in our process of developing a strategic plan that serves the needs of each and every student. As noted b Education Elements Consultant, Lauren Schulten “Strong strategic plans do not just sit on the shelf, they are living documents”
On Nov. 2nd, steering team members will spend the day to continue developing the components of the plan, using recommendations provided by a number of different focus groups and planning teams.
Parents, teachers, principals, students, board and community members continue to be engaged in conversations about what is and isn’t working and looking at ways to change or better our work with students, parents and community. It was amazing seeing everyone coming together and being honest and working toward a system that will potentially be good for everybody.
Throughout the process, it has been very important to hear all voices and use what has been heard to develop our plan. This process helps us create that culture where we have a unified vision, mission, and purpose guiding what we do every day in classrooms and across the district.
The steering team reaffirms understanding of how many people throughout the community care about the educational experience of all students.
Strategic Plan Steps
Eatonville launched a strategic planning process to define the future direction for District schools. The creation of a strategic plan provides an opportunity to further align the work at the schools to achieve ambitious goals for our future and provides a basis to implement, measure, and communicate key indicators of success for our students.
The process is designed to engage all district stakeholders – including parents, teachers, administrators, staff, students, and community residents – in developing a shared future vision for the district. Involvement of stakeholders from every corner of the community will result in a long-term framework for decision-making that builds upon the common values held by the community.
Between March-May 2023 the Eatonville team with Ed Elements consultants solicited input from across the community. Community members were invited to participate in both focus groups and an online survey.
Phase 1 - Inclusive Engagement: A process of community engagement will be facilitated to establish the current state of reality in the district and a shared vision of the future through focus groups, community surveys, as well as a review of District performance data. The eight Focus groups members meet last spring to participate in a group discussion process.
Phase 2 - Focus and Plan for the Future: Our Steering team made up of a variety of stakeholders will review insights, data and priorities gathered during Phase I and make recommendations for the Portrait of the Graduate.
Phase 3 - Implement and Evaluate Impact: Planning teams with the steering team will develop strategic goals with objectives, strategic indicators, action plans, timelines, roles and required resources. A Strategic Plan Dashboard will be created to monitor progress towards the shared vision for the district.
Strategic Plan Process
Eatonville School District is beginning a strategic planning process for the purpose of defining the decisions and actions that shape and guide the future direction for the school district over the next several years. The planning process will include targeted and prioritized action steps to move the district forward. One of the most important components to making this a successful effort is community input – before the plan is developed.
Strategic Plan Survey
From May 15 - May 26 numerous stakeholders took the Strategic Plan Survey that was available to all constituents. The survey will assist in providing the community’s thoughts on public education for our district. The information will be provided to a Strategic Planning Team as they work to develop a blueprint for progress for Eatonville Schools.
Over 1,330 individuals took the survey. This large response will certainly help represent a wide range of opinions. The amount of interest and time devoted to this important layer of the project is deeply appreciated.
