Student Responsibilities:

1.     Using Hangouts during class without permission from the teacher is not allowed.   If the use of Hangouts interrupts educational time, a detention will be issued, and administration reserves the right to restrict use to the student’s device until the end of the day.

2.     Texting in class will result in a detention.

3.     Students will abide by all school/system rules and policies, including the Acceptable Use Policy, Internet Safety Policy, and Student Code of Conduct.

4.     Use of the device will only be allowed when permissible according to the teacher.

5.     Devices can only be used in the classroom with teacher permission.

6.     Devices should never be used to cheat on tests or on assignments.

7.     It is illegal to record others without their consent.

8.     Students are not permitted to transmit or post any images or videos of any person on campus on any public and/or social networking sites.

9.     Students will only be allowed access to websites and resources which are relevant to the curriculum and content in the classroom.

10.  All cell phones must be turned off and stored in backpacks during the school day unless teacher has given student permission to use in class time.  No cell, bell-to-bell.

11.  Students are discouraged from bringing their personal cell phone outside during recess. Neither the school nor the district is responsible for damages.

12.  Students will not use social media sites for personal use during school hours.

13.  Students must understand that infecting the network with any virus designed to damage, alter, destroy or limit the network’s effectiveness is a violation of the Acceptable Use Policy and will result in disciplinary actions. The school/system has the right to confiscate and examine any device that is suspected of causing problems or is the source of an attack or virus infection.

14.  Repeated violations may result in the student being restricted from having electronic devices in school.

15.  Students are prohibited from recording audio or video media or taking pictures of any student or staff member without their specific consent.  If consent is not given, students will be in violation of RCW 9.73.030 or RCW 97.73.060 and may be subject to school discipline including but not limited to suspension and/or criminal charges.  Students who take pictures or record audio or video of an event at school may have their device searched during a school investigation.
