District-Wide Modernization and Renovation
It is very exciting times for Eatonville Schools. Our High School is well underway in its complete campus renovation. Our other schools follow close behind and are on schedule in their modernization projects.
Eatonville School District and Pierce County Parks and Recreation plan to enter a partnership to make the high school swimming pool available for community use after normal school hours. To estimate the demand we are conducting a brief survey of potential use. Your completing this 2 minute survey would be very helpful. Superintendent Ray Arment

Superintendent's Message
Dear Fellow Community Members:
The 2007 – 2008 school year was exciting, challenging and filled with many successes.
Foremost, no Eatonville School District senior failed to graduate because he or she was not successful on the WASL! Congratulations to our graduates, their parents and their high quality, supportive teachers & staff. Additionally, the district’s dropout reduction programs are having a positive impact, falling from 6.2% in 2005 to 3.7% in 2006, according to current Superintendent of Public Instruction’s official data. Our construction is on time and on budget! The high school is half-way to completion and on schedule to open in the fall of 2009. The district will have temporary use of the newly renovated gym for this fall’s and winter’s sports. Then we will turn the facility back to the contractor for completion. This fall we will begin the renovation of Weyerhaeuser and Eatonville Elementary Schools, which is projected to last until December 2009. The construction at the Middle School is anticipated to begin in the early summer of 2009 and be substantially completed by June 2010. As you recall, last summer we built EHS East in six weeks for 650 students. The school opened and ran very smoothly due to the exceptional leadership of the high school students, teachers and staff along with the warm hospitality of the Middle School students, teachers and staff. If you have not visited Columbia Crest School recently, you are missing their new, environmentally friendly rain garden. Columbia Crest students participated in the garden’s design and construction. The garden which collects water from the school’s roof and filters it back into ground water, will serve as an environmental classroom for many years. Thanks to Mr. David Hymel, the Chamber of Commerce vice-president, who was instrumental in obtaining the grant to make this possible. Thank-you fellow community members for providing support to our children, teachers and staff by voting ‘yes’ for the 2009 – 2012 Maintenance and Education Programs Levy. We have planned many new and innovative programs for our students as they and the staff return to modernized facilities. I would like to recognize and express appreciation that 120 of our 250 superb teachers and staff members have served our children for nine years or more! Our longest serving classified employee is Head Cook Ms. Sally Nagley, and our longest serving educator is Mrs. Lucy Fountain, the Director of Curriculum, Assessment and Instruction. Across the board, our students are demonstrating significant progress in learning. Children need family and community encouragement to build their skillsand share the importance of education. We are thankful for parents and community members who encourage children by talking to them about their school day, checking homework, attending school meetings, reading to and with children and promoting school attendance. It is very important to remain involved at the middle and high school levels, to keep in touch with your child’s teachers and to volunteer to participate in school activities. On behalf of the volunteer Eatonville School Board of Directors, the district teachers, staff and students, I would like to express gratitude for your continued advice and support to our community schools.
